North Port Mugshots and Florida Law
Booking photos from North Port arrests are public records under Florida law. Chapter 119 of the Florida Statutes gives anyone the right to inspect and copy government records. This includes mugshots, arrest reports, and charge sheets. The law says providing access is a duty of each agency, and automation should not reduce that right of access.
There are some exceptions. Under Section 119.071(4)(d), photos of active or former law enforcement officers are exempt from public disclosure if they file a written confidentiality request. Victim photos from sexual offenses are also protected under Section 119.071(4)(h). Outside of these specific situations, all North Port booking photos are available to the public.

Both processes go through the FDLE Seal and Expunge Section. The fee is $75 by money order to FDLE. Processing typically takes about 12 weeks from the time FDLE gets a completed application.
Sealing a North Port arrest record means the public can no longer see it, but courts and law enforcement still can under Section 943.059. Expunging under Section 943.0585 means the record is physically destroyed, and FDLE keeps only a limited confidential version. Contact the section at 850-410-7870 or email SEinfo@fdle.state.fl.us. Keep in mind that private mugshot websites are not required to remove photos even after a court order.
